Your Planet Needs You!

Your Planet Needs You! is a socially and environmentally pro-active program that is researched, co-produced and presented by young people for young people. There are so many things to feel positive about in our wonderful world, and this show highlights different topics each week from career choices and protecting our environment to the ‘Goss on Gloss’, which looks at topics such as body image, personal products and skin care. Catch up with the team every Monday from 7-8pm.

Our origianl team Lucy, James, Aurora and Zac are welcoming new team members throughout the year. Welcome to Bella, Elsa, Anna, Liz and Carly. It’s was a real squeeze in the studio for Your Planet’s 1st birthday show in April 2008 when everyone was there – standing room only!!

If you are under 22 years old and would like to join the team at Your Planet, we’d love to hear from you. Fantastic opportunites exist to gain first hand experience in the areas of research, production, editing, on air presenting, web management, marketing and journalism. For an online application form for internship or just to find out more, email Viarnne Mischon, Executive Producer via the contact page.

Your Planet Needs You also has it’s own website, visit www.yourplanet.org.au

Our team from Your Planet Needs You! wins the Whitehorse Sustainable Young Achiever Award 2009

March / April 2009

Congratulations go to our young team from Your Planet Needs You! who won the inaugural Whitehorse Sustainable Young Achiever Award. Representing the whole team at the awards night at the Box Hill Arts Centre were Anna, Bella, Lucy, Miani and Zac who received the award on behalf of the rest of the team – Aurora, Elsa, James and Sam. You can find out more on our site www.yourplanet.org.au.  GO TEAM!

Your Planet Needs You! celebrated its 2nd birthday on April 20th with the launch of the new pro-active initiative BEGIN – Beneficial Eco-sustainable Global Initiatives Now. The whole team was in the studio (quite a squeeze!) with special guests ROB GELL and LISA BARRON, to celebrate the show’s two years of broadcasting.

The BEGIN project aims to engage school students to devise and implement beneficial eco-sustainable initiatives that can be implemented globally, and the first initiative has been instigated by our youngest team member Miani (9 years old). Miani’s school has just joined BEGIN with a battery collection project that will see the students collecting old batteries for recycling and at the end of the year the total reduction from landfill and the flow on effects will be calculated – a good way to begin the path to an eco- sustainable future.

We invite all school students from anywhere in the world to BEGIN with us. Email us with your ideas and join the team effort – after all Your Planet Needs YOU so it is time to BEGIN!
